Recovery support
Kinesiology Taping
Supportive elastic taping that moves with you to encourage healthy movement.
At Simi Spine and Wellness, kinesiology taping is offered as part of our comprehensive approach to recovery and support. Using a thin, flexible tape applied to the skin, kinesiology taping is designed to support a muscle or joint while still allowing a natural range of motion.
Taping is commonly used alongside chiropractic adjustments and soft-tissue care to help support an area during activity and recovery. Whether it is right for you is determined during your visit.
What is kinesiology taping?
Kinesiology tape is a thin, stretchy tape applied to the skin over and around an area that needs support. Unlike rigid athletic tape, it moves with your body, so you keep a normal range of motion while wearing it.
It is commonly used to support a joint or muscle during activity, to take some strain off an area that is working hard, and to offer a gentle cue to move well. The tape can usually stay on for a few days, including through showers.
What to expect
Taping is quick, non-invasive, and comfortable. The tape is applied to a specific area as part of your care, often after an adjustment or soft-tissue work, to help support the area between visits.
There is no downtime, and you can return to your normal activities right away. When it is time, the tape is simply removed and replaced.
A complement to chiropractic care
Kinesiology taping is offered as an add-on to your care, not a standalone treatment. It is used to help the gains from hands-on care hold between visits, and whether it fits your situation is decided with Dr. DeCloedt as part of a personalized plan.
